Sandwiched between rain and more rain, Saturday, August 26th was a fine day – in lots of ways!  First, no rain!  Second, 193 cyclists of all skill levels took to the roads – and the canal path.  Third, significant funds were raised to benefit our Interlakes Foundation Wellness Program.  And, best, everyone who started completed their chosen route safely without injury or illness.

Our IFWP boot campers all wrapped up their training routines by setting a new goal and then going for it!  Congratulations to campers Tony DiGaetano (110 miles!!), Dick Rizzo, Shannon Case, Julian Epstein and Gerri Sehnert (all completed 50 miles!)!  You did us all proud!

None of this came about without the kind dedication of the best volunteers ever!  Mary Jeanne Mooney, of RV&E Bike and Skate, organized, ran and coordinated every detail of her 5th Annual Ride For Your Life.  We all owe her a tremendous debt of gratitude!!

Todd Scheske and Christine Webb teamed up to train and publicize our very dedicated boot campers.  Then Dwight Roth (of the JW Dundee Racing Team) escorted Tony on his 110 mile ride while Rob Dietrick and Yvette LaBombard (also Dundee racers) accompanied the 50-milers on Ride Day!  Another Dundee team member, Jon DeChau, did sag wagon duty for the 50 milers and the metric century riders!  And all the volunteers from the Interlakes Oncology offices who manned the pit stops along all the routes kept all the riders nourished, while Dr. Jim Fetten did sag wagon duty for the 100 milers!  Many thanks also to our volunteer friends, Chris Smith and Carol Rizzo who kept the registration process moving smoothly.  And thanks to all the pharmaceutical reps whose donations of refreshments kept us going all day!  And our thanks to Chris Williams, of Escape Radius, who helped MJ behind the scenes to get the web site up and running and getting us linked to every imaginable cycling web site to pull in more riders.

It’s a huge undertaking to put together an event this complex and make it 100% fun!  Thank you to all for making such a difference and helping us all LiveSTRONG!
